I'm trying to figure out how ad-hoc wireless networking can be applied to a couple PIC based products I'm working on. We'll have an embedded web server, and we want people to be able to easily join the ad hoc network and view the web server. So far, in setting up ad hoc networks, I've had to manually assign IP addresses to each end of the system. It really isn't very user friendly. So, how are IP addresses typically assigned in such a system? How do we get the address of the device we're making in to the web browser? Does our device, perhaps, need to run a DHCP and DNS server?
