I don't know your specific applicatio= n=20 but I have shown a typical switching application with a reversed biased T= VS=20 Diode across the relay coil and a reversed biased schottky diode in paral= lel=20 with the TVS Diode. If your circuit does not drive the relay with a NPN = or=20 FET just disregard the drive circuit and install the diodes as shown. I=20 also put a reversed diode across the NPN (the same for an N-Channel FET)=20 because it could also be part of the problem.
