I've been buying low-end dells for the kids since the Dimension 2400 (2.xGHz P-4 class Celeron, ~2003) and they've all come with media as well as a "recovery partition.") (Note that the "media" is a restore disk, and not an actual windows install disk. I find that an acceptable compromise...)
