I bought a dsPICDEM2 board that uses the dsPIC30F4011. When I try to
connect with the ICD2 I get the following error:

ICDWarn0020: Invalid target device id (expected=0x1011, read=0x0)

I have the all the switches and jumpers set as specified in the user
guide but it doesn't work

As a comparison if I try to connect with the 9V power supply
disconnected from the board I get the same message except read=0xFFF).
>From searching it seems this message means that the PIC was not
detected. What can I do to fix this? This is my first PIC product and
it doesn't work, very frustrating!
