In my ideal area, The Bay of Baja is only 15mi away. Could easily crack 
salt water, then
sell the salt and other minerals as well! Don't forget the oxygen as 
well! Chemically pure
oxygen has a great, steady market.

Yes, the hydrogen idea is a good one. A pipeline of hydrogen under 
pressure would cost less,
methinks, than a power grid, even with the tiny amount of leakage 
(hydrogen seeps through
almost all metal containers, because the H2 molecule is so small).
