The FAQ has references to "memory effect" and the front page talks about replacing NiCD with NiMH for ecological reasons. Looks to me like the FAQ needs an update. Frankly, I thought about it and for me... rechargeable lights with cranks work better for emergencies. No need to keep them out in the light to keep them charged up, and if they do die in the DARK which is when you really need them... you just turn the crank... Perhaps an idea for version 3. I won't be putting either a Bogo or a crank in my FLIGHT bag anytime soon, though... Good old Alkalines and a well built LED or regular flashlight (with appropriate red filter or red LED's for night flight) for when my ass is on the line, thanks... call me old-fashioned! I've gotten used to rotating any unused Alkaline batteries out of the flight bag (spares) and out of the flashlight, every so often, too. (GRIN) Maglite and me are pretty comfortable with each other when the cockpit lights go out. LED headlamps if you have room in your bag are more convenient though. Hands-free operation is nice. -- Nate Duehr nate@natetech.com -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
