Since you didn't tag your post, my (tongue-in-cheek) list would start with:

Graham and Dodd's Security Analysis, if you want to get started with 
investing;
The Principles of Underwater Sound (Urick), if you want to get started with 
sonar;
Illusions - The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah (Richard Bach), if you 
want to get  started with metaphysics;
...
