I live in a place where one of the most successful politicians has the (inofficial, but probably most widely known) campaign motto "rouba mas faz"; approximately translated as "steals but achieves". The "steals" part implies corruption, and a lot of it. He continues to be one of the most successful here, IMO not despite but because of that motto. And it's not only the lesser educated that find this cool; you find admirers with all kinds of education. My personal conviction is that honesty is the most important trait when thinking about for whom to vote. The rest may be important, but this is the one that overrides all others. It is rather obvious that a majority of voters doesn't agree with me, and not only here. But to get back to what one (wo)man can do: talk to one (wo)man at a time. I think that's about the most one can do. It is not a "little" thing; it's just not done enough.
