What concerns me more is now much the article above did *not* mention. Not a criticism of the article itself, but of the vgeneral media tendency to focus on on recent events. The fact is that this particular ISO process has been heavily manipulated from the beginning.... May I suggest a few hours wasted at: http://www.groklaw.net/staticpages/index.php?page=20071217022527429 This gives a relatively complete timeline on the fiasco. The page: http://www.groklaw.net/staticpages/index.php?page=20051216153153504 gives an overview. Groklaw has tracked the situation relatively closely, and has pooled a lot of resources together. The main issue that I have with it is that Microsoft has "gamed" the process so much it has reduced the relevance of all ISO standards significantly. Any more bending of the rules and the entire ISO process will break because people will lose confidence in the objectiveness of it. Finally, real important ISO standards have become stagnat because of Mirosoft's gaming, and introducing so much cruft in the system that the real work can't get done efficiently.
