I like any connector that you can orient the correct way without looking 
at it while you plug in, without breaking pins.
Losers: mini-DIN plugs ("PS2" keyboard/mouse), any DB-n connector, USB 
(though I've never broken one)
Winners: rotationally symmetric connectors: audio, BNC, DIN with 
well-endowed keys, XLR.
Of course I don't know how many contacts you're talking about.
