Hi Ariel, There is an easy solution which may or may not be easy to implement. Use two small light bulbs(for stereo). Insert one in series with the headphone signal wire. The hard part will be finding the right light bulb, it'll have to be very low current and voltage since the headphone signal is relatively small. I'd suggest trying bulbs from Christmas tree lights. The active range starts from just faintly glowing in a dark room to orange. Your kid might actually like the sound compressed like this, however. Like Phil Spector produced stuff.
