I'm forwarding this question for a friend of mine who is looking at retrofitting an existing product for lower power operation. The budget simply doesn't allow for code re-write at this point so the current chip MUST be used. Question for the PIC list: Will the PIC16F57 run at 12 mHZ at 3.3 volts? Probably yes, but at what level of reliability? Has this been done in PRODUCTION systems? How many in the field, and what level of returns for non-operation? (sort of a validation question). Our alternative is to run at 3.3, but a 6 MHZ which slows down the '57, cuts the baud rate to 4800, and otherwise should have minimal effects. My data from prior experience shows that 12mHz is pushing the 57: 6mHz is more likely. http://www.sxlist.com/techref/scenix/picreplace.htm James Newton: PICList webmaster/Admin mailto:jamesnewton@piclist.com 1-619-652-0593 phone http://www.piclist.com/member/JMN-EFP-786 PIC/PICList FAQ: http://www.piclist.com -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
