The "voucher" idea also opens the door for people to start up
"Schools" whose sole purpose is collecting the voucher money,
defending any lack of education happening by hiding behind religion.

A very messy can of worms to open.

Scientology (to pick on my favorite whipping institution) could use
"All About Radiation" as a text in their physics classes for example.
Among other howlers, it teaches that radiation is water soluble, and
that you can undo the effects of radiation by taking large doses of
niacin.

With standardized public education, there is far less risk that the
students will be robbed of their education.
