Hi all, I'm sure everyone is familiar with the popular 2N2222A NPN transistor in the metal TO-18 case, and the plastic PN2222A version in the TO-92 case. I learned something new about them: I pulled some 2222s from a bin at work a few days ago and wired them up in a breadboard. They were the plastic case so I assumed they were the PN2222s. I couldn't get the circuit working right. I looked at the the transistors again to make sure they were PN2222. They weren't. They were P2N2222. Same thing, right? Wrong. The emitter and collector leads are swapped! I've never encountered this before. Maybe because I have always used PN2222. Anyone know the reason the leads are swapped on these two types? Just to confuse me? : ) Thanks, Dan -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
