Tamas,

I am using MPLAB 7.62 + ICD2 connected to the 18F86J10. My compiler is MPLAB C18.

As I have said is see no stack call tree capability. And the hardware stack window does not change at all

I am wondering if there is some compiler switch that I need to change?

Which version of MPLAB are you using? Do you simulate the code or use a
hardware debugger? (For me it works with MPSIM + MPLAB 7.41 - btw: I found
only 18F87J10, with the J, is that what you have?)
