> With all the hype, I believe PS3 will not win the console war The way I see it: The wii a rather wiered console, it has some nice gimmicks (the wiimote, the virtual console) but the fact is it doesn't have either the power or the graphics chips to do HD and IMO that is going to hurt it as HDTVs become more common. The xbox 360 does have the power and the graphics chips to do HD and microsoft also have the advantage of being the first mover this time arround. On the other hand it only has a DVD drive which is going to make it difficult for game developers to include significant ammounts of HD video. The PS3 has the power and graphics chips to do HD and a nice big storage media meaning game developers can use plenty of HD video footage without too much worry about storage, it also doubles up as a blue-ray player. Yes it was initially expensive but now when i look at game.co.uk the cheapest PS3 bundle on offer is the same price as the cheapest xbox 360 bundle on offer. Sony took a big gamble by putting the blue-ray drive in the PS3 and it is pretty certain that it hurt early adoption of the PS3. However it also killed HD-DVD leaving the PS3 as the only console of it's generation that could double up as a player for the winning HD format. -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
