I put them in touch with each other after you had moved on. In the warp-3 to warp-13 days, we were on the phone to each other every 2 or 3 days, as he was 40 miles away, but I haven't heard from him for about 18 months. His web site vanished, then I saw Frank (Ozitronics) say that Jim was no longer supporting DIY. Tony Nixon, who started the whole DIY USB PIC programming saga, got right out, and I believe is still a flying instructor. He even sold his PC. Now that's what I call dropping out of electronics. Many piclisters will remember Tony. He had a heap of hardware and software products, and gave great support to the list.
