Reminds me of a story my grandfather used to tell, about going into a store for some clothes pegs. This would have been just before or just after WW2. Grandfather: I'll have a gross of clothes pegs please. Dumb assistant: Sorry, we don't have them in a gross, but we do have them in 12 dozen. Anyone familiar with old weights and measures will know that a gross and 12 dozen are the same quantity.
