A New Member of the AVR=AE Family

At EW2008, Atmel will unveil a major extension of the AVR =

8-bit microcontroller proprietary architecture. This new =

family will extend the reach to 8/16-bit applications with =

significant architectural enhancements and best-in-class low =

power consumption characteristics.

AVR picoPowerT

Performance and power consumption have always been key =

elements of AVR's development. Atmel's picoPowerT technology =

enables AVR microcontrollers to achieve the industry's =

lowest power consumption, whereas high-quality, low-cost =

tools support the entire AVR family.

2.4 GHz Wireless

AVR-based 2.4 GHz wireless solutions are using Atmel RF ISM =

transceivers, achieving superior performance. This is an =

ideal platform for applications based on IEEE 802.15.4, =

ZigBeeT, 6LoWPAN, etc. A new evaluation kit with free =

software/stacks will allow anyone to easily access the AVR =

wireless technology at a very affordable price.

Capacitive Touch Sensing

Atmel will demonstrate products using capacitive =

touch-sensing technology from Quantum Research Group =

recently acquired by Atmel.

32-bit Microcontrollers & Processors

Proprietary AVR32 MCU/DSP

Optimized to deliver both high performance and low-power to =

embedded systems, the UC3 & AP7 families achieve =

best-in-class processing effectiveness. Atmel will announce =

a major upgrade to the AVR32 development tool chain, =

including a high-end emulation solution that will break the =

usual price barrier for such debug capabilities.

ARM (AT91SAM)

Based on the industry-standard ARM=AE 32-bit RISC processor =

architecture, Atmel Smart ARM7 and ARM9 microcontrollers' =

product line provide the ideal mix of performance, =

connectivity, security, and power economy. A new ARM7 Flash =

microcontroller with ultra-low-power capability will be =

added to the family.

CAP (AT91CAP)

Atmel's CAPT is a microcontroller-based system-on-chip =

platform with fast local memory, a wide range of =

industry-standard peripherals and interfaces, and a Metal =

Programmable (MP) Block that allows the designer to add =

custom logic. The AT91CAP9 development kit and starter kit =

will be demonstrated.

Automotive Solutions

A car mock-up will demonstrate Atmel's AVR Flash =

microcontroller and driver solutions - a performance and =

feature set that is perfectly suited for many automotive =

applications, including sensors and actuators control as =

well as in-vehicle networking with FlexRayT, CAN and LIN.

CryptoMemory=AE and CryptoRF=AE

Atmel's CryptoMemory and CryptoRF provide truly secure means =

of preventing product counterfeiting and/or piracy. A new =

companion chip that offers a plug-and-play host-side =

cryptographic security for embedded systems will be unveiled =

at EW2008.

Atmel technologists and experts will be on-hand sharing the =

latest in embedded technology.
