Most cellular data plans are limited (Verizon: 5GB/mo) which may or may not affect you, but EDGE and EVDO speeds are actually quite reasonable for regular browsing. This is the first time I've worked for a company with essentially the same issues. Even though they block many ports, you may find a VPN will go through if you have to work with contractors or clients that come to your site. Unless you have a very nice home internet plan, you may find that access speeds are not that great either, since you're using your upload bandwidth to send content to you back at work. Latency will go up significantly, depending on the speed of your computer at home as well. For my part, I've simply decided to let things be - it's too much trouble to deal with. If they wanted me to work at peak performance, they would be doing a lot more than they are now aside from better internet access. As it is, a few bad apples coupled with overacting paranoia spoil the infrastructure for everyone. -Adam -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Moving in southeast Michigan?
