Ohio law and the way it is enforced is very specific, nothing else is legal, but "face cord" I am familiar with. We have a small utility trailer 5' wide, 7' long, and 16" deep. When we need firewood, we go about 30 miles south to the edge of Amish area, to a saw mill, load the trailer with 2' cut to length slab wood (the fall off when a log is squared), self load to a little above the sides for $10. But recently the state imposed a wood hauling ban into our area due to the Ash borer.
