To be honest. I'm not sure that the well known CAD company is actually worth the price tag if you judge it purely by stability and basic schematic, PCB, gerber generation. I find it often crashes for no apparent reason. Due to that astounding finding, I use AutotraxEDA www.kovac.com (not the version from THAT company), it does have some annoyances though. If you prefer something free just to get you going then Kicad (http://www.lis.inpg.fr/realise_au_lis/kicad/ ) is worth a look or if you want to model and debug uControllers in the same package then Proteus (www.labcenter.co.uk) is quite good though a tad expensive IMO. Eagle (www.cadsoft.de /com) I think is extraordinarily expensive for the low volume users and has an interface that is not that intuitive.
