Another angle on this thing, since its only the mouse clock that's out, and it's supposed to be range 10 - 16.7 kHz, could I make a dongle with a clock source, there is info out there to take a PIC work with a PC mouse, and that's a separate issue possibly for the [PIC] list, just want to explore the dongle concept here. The mouse connector has 5vdc and ground available which should be adequate for a little circuit. Is that clock sync'ed with something, or just free running.
