Just an update from several weeks ago. To refresh, an Intel D845-wn P4 motherboard. When cold start only this computer, the KVM (IOGEAR GCS612A) didn't switch on, but if 2nd computer powered up for 10 seconds, and powered down, everything OK. After for restarts and brief power downs, all OK. Took a 3' length of cat-5 cable, a pair of mini DIN connectors, and a Euro terminal strip, made a breakout. Found the mouse clock circuit was the culprit using a logic probe, which showed a logic low and no activity when the KVM was down. When the KVM is active, a logic high with activity shows. Pulled the motherboard, visually inspected the area, nothing special noted, but reflowed a couple of pins in the mouse connector area. Tried ringing out the circuit from the socket, only got as far a few surface mount components, but lost at a via that either went to a in between layer, or under a component. At this point, I'm thinking it something that is beyond my capability to troubleshoot or repair, likely a new motherboard is going to be on the buy list. Any thoughts appreciated. :) -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
