FYI, I noted that the level shift voltages never reached the same thresholds from OSC2 at 3.0 volts as they did at 5.0 volts. I tried a few pullup/pulldown resistors, and there seems to be a pretty stiff relationship (diode) the voltage SX48 +supply lead. 

 

I'll try some different oscillator settings (as you mentioned) when I get back to my bench tonight, and let you know what I find. I wish I had more time right now, but until the weekend I'm stuck at my day job for most of the working hours of the week...
