I have used them in thousands (18B20-PAR TO 92 and 18B20 uSOP). I think we = have = passed 100K devices by now. I use them to measure temperature in grain storage bins. I use up to 48 in = one = sensor line (up to 100 meter long but normally between 10 and 30 meters) an= d = DS2409's to connect up to 16 sensor lines to one input. Wire lengths is tes= ted = up to 400 meters. I can't say that we have had any failures on the sensor itself that I know = of. There are some early devices that can loose the internal EEPROM (and = calibration?) on power up, but the serial numbers and datecodes for them is = well known and can be checked. The reset value the sensor has when no conversion command has been issued i= s = 85C. You will get this value if the power to the sensor is lost during the = conversion time and then comes back again. This can be a problem if the sen= sor = can go offline and you normally expect temperatures in this area. /Ruben > Anybody using a 1-wire thermometer? Results OK? > Need 0C to 80C.
