I am not using one...............yet. I too have been looking at it for a while and really really want one for some of the same reasons, light, small, and runs XP. I've been doing some digging on the internet abut it and have found that it is extremely easy to modify/upgrade it, including putting XP on it. It comes with a CD with all of the drivers needed to run XP and instructions on how to do the actual XP install. I was trying to find enough compelling reasons to purchase one, and got sold on the idea of getting one when I found this site (and others too) that is loaded with details on how to add stuff to it, like Bluetooth, touch screens etc. See: http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=3982 Note that there are a few different versions of it. The 4G seems to be the only one with enough room for you to upgrade it by adding Bluetooth, touch screen and other things. It comes with only 512M of ram but will can be upgraded to 2G by replacing the ram (you can't just add more). The 8G has a lot less room for the upgrades and from the stuff I read it is not worth getting the "surf" versions, especially if you end up deciding to upgrade it. -Mario -----Original Message----- From: piclist-bounces@mit.edu [mailto:piclist-bounces@mit.edu] On Behalf Of Marcel Duchamp Sent: Tuesday, January 15, 2008 8:08 PM To: Microcontroller discussion list - Public. Subject: [PIC] Anyone using the ASUS EEE notebook for PIC work? Anyone using the ASUS EEE notebook for PIC work? I have been thinking about a lightweight tool to take to work and home that can run MPLAB and an ICD2 for PIC work. The EEE marketing droid speak on the ASUS website indicates that it can run XP. I'm curious as to whether anyone has done this and has any input on the subject.
