Very interesting. I've been getting around SD for years on a bicycle. Too many years, in fact - My knees are letting me know...This prompted a gas power-assist addition 4 years ago - Works great, gets in excess of 150 mpg when used, will pull a 7% grade at 10 mph by itself, and the whole set-up weighs 17 lbs. Sadly, it is still considered a bicycle under the vehicle code - No licence, registration, insurance, fun-filled hrs in line at DMV... Damn. Three Wald folding baskets, two up front and one rear opposite the motor give me 3 grocery bag capacity. When I need a car or truck I rent one. Electric powered bikes are fun to think about, but weight and range seem to stack the deck against them, at least here in hill country. merry Christmas, Jack -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
