Hi,

I need to be able to set up an interface circuit to enable 8 separate 
event counters

I also need to able to read the current event counts via I2C from our 
main PIC32.

So I figured that a separate small MCU would do the job.

Could anyone suggest one.

The requirements are,

    * Event count up to 4 MHz,
    * 32 bit count if possible
    * Very small foot print as board space is very limited.
    * 3.3 or 5 Volt supply
    * Comms to the host PIC32 via I2C
    * Configurable for raising and leading edge count trigger
