"Out of date" here is varying. I'm "new blood" in comparison to some of the seasoned members of the list. While there are many millions of users on AIM/ICQ, YIM, MSNM, IRC, and a few hundred thousand on Jabber, there is a significantly more "productive" email presence of some other populations of people on the internet. As for IRC, I try to keep up with at least 20 different channels on maybe four networks, but it can be difficult. Somebody else mentioned blogs. I try to keep up with enough blogs that gives me a dx of nearly 1k/day. I have a list somewhere on my website, for anybody interested -- not too many electronics blogs, though. They are useful: lots of robotics, new-space, etc. Biology. (I might be reading more than Scoble.) http://heybryan.org/bookmarks/2007-10-30-feeds.html Social networking websites? Last night I found a list of 300; hopefully I can get through them all and register. Make myself accessible. Forums? http://heybryan.org/forums.html Re: family/friends only? I make myself as open as humanly possible. So far it has introduced me to some of the wonderful people of the internet.
