In the "earlier days" we used to program eproms and use them with the window uncovered. I guess many of us have found out that this is a bad idea. Like Bob's memories, they used to misbehave when exposed to light, and quite reasonably so. Fluorescents were worse than incandescents. Not erasure but just the odd unexpected program malfunction. Bright lamp up close = gross malfunction. The stickers aren't just labels ;-).
