I've used this kind of adapters in several occasions and let =

me tell you than some are good and some are really a pain in =

your back.

I don't know if the IC-PROG does a deep hacking of the =

serial port or just a usage of RTS, DTR, DSR or CTS signals. =

  This is important because I've seen some USB to RS232 =

adapters that are have those signals "hard-wired" which is =

not acceptable for many applications.

I found the "Prolific" ones really good.
