I'm looking for something that might have a replaceable "front end" to
put it on various bands, capble of >5Mbits of real bandwidth, and > a
mile range, assuming reasonable path and radio on the other end.

I've seen FPGA implementations that claim >100Mbits and >5 miles, but
their pricing is astronomical.
