My 7400 series logic parts drawer is a bit empty - at least of useful stuff, so I'm going to replenish it..... And since I can't find a good assortment anywhere - most of them contain mostly the junk parts I already have... I figured I'd just start my own assortment. Plus, I'm starting to do surface mount here and there and am thinking along that line as well. I've got my favorites of the 74' series, and I'd love to hear what others on the list like to keep around. Think of this as the 74 series version of the famous "what PIC should I stock" question. (And for brevity, I'm skipping the family - I'm planning on stocking HC and HCT's of each type, unless someone has a good suggestion as to why some other family would be useful). My goal with this is to end up with a list of things I am likely to want when designing a modern one-off digital circuit, probably with a PIC involved. My (very small) list so far goes like: 7400 - Quad NAND 7404 - Hex Inverter 7414 - Schmitt Trigger Inverter 74137 - 8 output Demux w/latch 74151 - 8 input Mux 74165 - Shift Register - Parallel In 74221 - Mono Mult. Schmitt Trigger. 74540 - Inverting Octal Buffer/Line Driver, with output pins all on the same side. 74541 - Noninverting Version of 540 74595 - Shift Register - Parallel Out There are some I've specifically excluded, but would like to know opinions on these exclusions: All the various AND, OR, XOR, multiple-in gates, etc. After all, you have a 7400, what else do you need? 7447, BCD to 7 Segment - When was the last time you drove a 7 segment display this way? 74240, 241, 244 - I prefer the 540 and 541, since I'm currently Counters. Flip Flops and generic latches. So, what did I miss? -forrest -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
