Mandriva 2008 does not even install in my computer (so did 2006). It boots and then hangs (seems to try to boot the initial graphic install screen). PClinuxOS 2007, on the other hand, works fine and I like the fact that is uses Synaptic as the package management system. It is said that PClinuxOS is a fork of Mandriva. Now it is No 1 in distrowatch. It still lacks the smoothness of Ubuntu. Now I have two RPM based installation (Fedora 7 and PClinux 2007) but I still like Ubuntu better (6.06 and 7.10). OpenSuse looks good and seems to be more professional than other distros but I just do not quite like it (a bit slow).
