I recently purchased the Passive Keyless entry development kit (APGRD001). All looked good, until I discovered that the keyfob transmitter battery was ever so slightly discharged. On opening the keyfob case, I realised that it is not designed for battery replacement. The field coil that is wrapped around the inside of the case, attaches flimsly to the bottom of the pcb, where the battery lays in it's tight fitting holder. This is going to be so easy to break, yes the wires can be resoldered, but that will only be so many times. Perhaps I'm supposed to buy a new keyfob everytime the battery dies. As for reprogramming the chip without damaging the circuit, that is going to be REALLY interesting. Colin -- cdb, on 4/11/2007 -- Internal Virus Database is out-of-date. Checked by AVG.
