The one you reference is apparently the third edition of this same book. I was less than satisfied with my investment because of the large number of typos, incorrect/incomplete index, instances of incomprehensible sentence structure, and duplication of information between sections (sometimes whole paragraphs copied). I would like to think the problems were solely the result of too large QA effort (almost 1200 pages) for a team that may have been too inexperienced at this size project or with the subject matter. I think Myke knows the material, it just didn't always translate well. That said, I have gotten some use out of this book. IF these problems have been fixed in the 3rd edition, or if you are able to overlook them to get/figure out the information, it may be a fair buy. Amazon has the $59.95 list price down to $37.77, which is a deeper discount (about $22) than they are offering on the 2nd edition (about $17). Sounds like they may be trying to push these out the door. One might surmise that they are not selling well. Maybe the prospective purchasers don't want to be the first on their block to own the new book are waiting for others the buy it and write reviews. This new book, at about 1000 pages, hopefully had a more experienced eitorial team for the size and technical complexity of the project. Let us know what you decide and, if you buy it, please write a review.
