>> How many people today even know what a daisywheel printer is? My final project in our Computer Graphics class (1978) was software to make our Diablo daisywheel into a general purpose graphics output device, using "." (or your choice of character) and the micro-stepping multi-direction capability of the printer. (Lines and such would be plotted in real time; not a "dump data to a buffe and then print in a boring fashion.) It was rather fun to watch, and educational in its way, but rather hampered by the difference in vertical and horizontal resolution.
