I remember when they were new!  :-)

I had an IBM "Golfball" typewriter up to a couple of years ago (eventually threw it away - most unlike me!).  It had come from a "Sadie" accounting machine, so it 
was controllable electrically, but it needed something like 48V to drive the solenoids, and my idea to turn it into a computer-driven printer faded when I realised 
how much hassle it would be.
