There is nothing wrong with 'American' or 'Americans', they are mostly great guys and gals, this is a single news article out of tens of thousands published every day. The problem I can see is, that it was linked from a CNN affiliated site. It has to do with clueless. Probably a deficiency in a *certification* of the reporter for scientific reporting ;^) (He must have been an autodidact reporter and skipped the rare earth metal oxide poisoning problem ;^), together with his autodidact supervisor and the other 20 or so people who read it before it was put up ;^) ;^);^) Wait, aren't journalists unionized somehow ? ;^) ;^) ;^) ;^) Anyway the discussion on Wikipedia is worth reading for its monochromaticity. There is even a mention of a posting that went against the consensus and was promptly removed from it. The article that notes this was not (yet?) removed. Democracy can redefine truth apparently (or at least suppress anything that is inconvenient at the moment - Hemlock has worked before for this, apparently). Hehe.
