The good old LM386 requires just a few external components and will work ok at 5 volts as long as you aren't expecting big power outputs. It's also very inexpensive and easy to obtain. If you want more power and virtualy no compnents, there are numerous Class D bridged power amps around now which are designed for boom boxes etc. e.g. Availability for low volumes might be a problem.
