I need the creative thinking of the group here... I need to set up an area, in a warehouse/garage type room, to wash equipment in the winter. The area will be about 20 ft by 10 ft, with one side at a garage overhead door. My intent is to be able to wash equipment in this area in the winter, with the door mostly closed. Outside the door, I need to funnel the runoff water parallel to the door (would normally run off perpendicular down a driveway). The area has other heavy roll around equipment that needs to cross the area when not used for washing, as does the driveway (cars and trucks), and it can't be a trip hazard. The outside part must also withstand sun and elements if permanent. Conventionally, an interesting approach would be to build a mound or curb in a U shape, open at the door, with another curb/mound (of concrete) at a small angle to the door. This lets runoff go into the soil, rather than potentially freezing the drive. The door would stay open a few inches during use, letting it out of the warehouse. It is imperative that it doesn't leak. Normally, one would have a french drain, but the floor isn't sloped at all (I'll probably squeegee it dry afterward with a containment approach) and it can't be retrofitted for one anyway. The depth of water/soap/runoff in use might go to an inch or more in full flow in places, but the area will generally be surrounded by plastic curtain. It should optimally be fold up or roll up and storable, cheap (using existing cheap products not originally intended for this would be OK), durable (in case it was left outside), conform to the variation in concrete (if it uses a seal between the 'wall' and the floor) (the variation is little bumps and such in the outdoor concrete), and not adhered down. It should also be easy to deploy. I think about 4" high, +-, should work, but don't let that stop ideas. I 'feel' like the solution is right around me, but I don't seem to be able to find it. It isn't tough, just not usual. I know someone(s) here has probably already done this, or can see more clearly and has an idea. Thanks in advance. -Skip -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
