Not sure this helps for EE designer but here goes*well
at least have some note....*

I have in front of me a USB card reader that looks
dead*windows see the device* but  I can't read any SD
card or MMC card. It has work before*never quite right
with detect SD/MMC cards at 2GB*.

The IC used is: AU6366 E32-FCL-NP 

The product using this chip is SWISSTEC. Soldering to
the chip for the SD slot looks okay. But I am not for
certain the chip is dead to the SD card since I lack a
logic analyzer. Tested the SD cards on my new USB card
reader and work well.
