The point being that you don't load the ordinary bios that supports a lot of legacy and that sets up a lot of stuff your Linux won't need anyway, after which Linux can do everything again (as BIOSes are generally regarded as a necessary unliked evil that's not to be relied upon for anything critical after boot) to get it right. LinuxBIOS replaces that mess (setup mess, remove mess, setup system) with a shortened setup (setup system), which makes the booting process about as long as your LCD takes to display any video at all.
