Hi Alan, The CPLD can run up to 300MHz, it is a MAXII from Altera. I will use this CLK rate internally. I will definitely consider your suggestion of the FPGA, in fact I started thinking of that yesterday when I realised the difficulty in finding a suitable CLK device. I will have a look at the NIOSII. I was trying to avoid using the configuration device and keeping it simple. Thanks for your help. If its all internal, I'd use a smallish FPGA and use the PLL inside it. By the time you add the clock synthesis, you might already be at the same cost and it would take less room on the board.
