That's why I believe, for the LONGEST time, GM had TWO keys per vehicle, one to open the doors, the other to start the car. I always figured the reason being the odds of the door key working on another car were high enough to be an issue, so by adding a second key for the ignition odds were much worse that BOTH keys would work in a different car.
