There's *a lot* of email software out there - some of it worse than the Outhouse brothers, but mostly not! :-) I tend to recommend Thunderbird to clients (usually home users who have recently been clobbered by malware targetting Outhouse Excess). Its look-and-feel is sufficiently similar not to frighten them off, I find. There are a few settings that need to be tweaked to make it behave more closely to what they expect, but it's not onerous.
