OK, another question(s)... (and thanks for the previous answers)... 
Since a tc is 2 dissimilar metals, how do I tell which is which when 
attaching? Is the wire sold in pairs? And do I have to weld them on or 
just clamp to the tc ends. If welding, would standard oxy-acetylene gas 
welding do?

I have noticed that all the meter probes do have what seem to be 
continuous wire to the connector, but then there is a 2-blade connector. 
How do they get away with that?

And as long as I may end up with some lengths of tc wire after this, and 
may have welded some, is there any more art to making a tc other than 
joining the 2 in a blob at the end with a torch?
