   Let me guess - both of you recently installed the Verizon Backup 
Contacts application, or set it up on the web.  :-)

   Mine was doing exactly the same thing on my V710.  Turns out that it 
was the application that was causing the beep.  Apparently there's no 
way to turn it off, either, though you can define a timespan in which 
you want it to run.
