Agree, I used Debian for years and years and a friend recommended
Ubuntu since it's debian-based.  It works beautifully out of the box,
all hardware was setup w/o having to patch any drivers, modprobe and
other unpleasant things just to get hardwork working.

It's been my desktop of choice for about a year and a half now and love it.
